Footwork & Entry
Pivoting on the toes & stepping deep inside opponents legs. "Economy of movement" - don't shuffle, but turn in quick & decisively
Forward Foot Trip/Block (sasae tsurikomi ashi)
Unbalancing using circular motion with collar/sleeve grip - pulling & lifting with the collar (and stepping away) and accelerating opponent into the turn by lifting their elbow with sleeve grip.
Combination to Outside Rear Trip (osoto gari) or Forward Body Drop (tai otoshi)
Depending on position of opponent & degree of unbalancing, either drive & step behind for the rear trip or turn back into the throw for the forward body drop
Ground Techniques
Keeping opponent from pinning you in guard. clearing the space & using knees & foot on hip
Controlling opponents arm & reversing using knee push sweep
- create space for them to fall into
- or timing the sweep as they attempt to pass
Switching to keylock using legs (omoplata)
